KUALA LUMPUR, Aug. 27 -- Prime Video has cast English actor Dan Stevens as the new RoboCop in its upcoming eight-episode series.

According to reports, the series, which Prime Video originally announced in July, has now received an eight-episode order.

Stevens will play the fallen officer whose consciousness is transferred into the powerful robotic law-enforcement machine, putting a new spin on the central concept of the original franchise.

The project has been in development since Amazon's 2022 acquisition of MGM, bringing the classic science-fiction franchise back to the screen in a new television format.

The series comes from writer, executive producer and showrunner Peter Ocko.
