Indie art films and shorts that deserve your attention
India, Aug. 12 -- It's a testosterone party out there! Don't get me wrong; I love a good mainstream masala entertainer. My life can often be framed as a Farah Khan film, and frankly, I couldn't complain. But the dearth of discerning movie makers and moviegoers has resulted in a templatised syndrome at the movies that's hard to miss. It's anything but subtle on most days and dangerous on the rest. Just look at the plethora of new announcements and drops- there are many, and they are all chasing a rhetoric in an increasingly divided world. When not flaming the fire, they are busy reinforcing harmful stereotypes that should have ideally retired by now. But half of 2026 has gone by, and we're still wondering whatever happened to the romcoms? ...
