India, April 8 -- Obeetee's London opening traces a century-long journey from British origins to an India-led design voice.
Angelique Dhama describes Obeetee's buy-back policy almost as a paradox-offered in theory but rarely exercised in practice. The policy itself is straightforward: clients can return a rug years later and receive its original value back. But the reality is more complex, "These are classic pieces," she says. "You invest in them, you build your home around them. So, the idea of changing them isn't easy." And yet, no one has ever taken them up on it. "It's a very emotional thing... you see your life around them. I don't think you give it away."
