US Russia Sanctions Bill: India Among Countries Named for Up to 100% Tariffs Under Proposed Amendment
New Delhi, Sept. 16 -- US lawmakers have proposed amendments to a Russia sanctions bill that could specifically name India among countries eligible for tariffs of up to 100 per cent over purchases of Russian-origin crude oil and natural gas, while another amendment seeks to remove the broad tariff provision altogether.
The amendments were submitted as the Lindsey O. Graham Sanctioning Russia and Iran Act of 2026 moves towards consideration in the US House of Representatives. The Senate passed the legislation by an 86-11 vote on August 7, PTI reported.
