Tex-Eco Initiative To Promote Textile Waste Recycling, Recycled Fibre Development: Govt
New Delhi, Aug. 12 -- The government has undertaken several initiatives to promote textile recycling, adoption of recycling technologies and sustainable manufacturing as part of efforts to move the sector towards a circular economy, Minister of State for Textiles Pabitra Margherita said in the Lok Sabha.
In the Union Budget 2026-27, the government announced the Tex-Eco Initiative to support a globally competitive and sustainable textiles and apparel sector.
The initiative will promote innovative technologies for textile waste management, recycling and value addition, including the development of recycled fibres, new materials, sustainable packaging and other high-value products from discarded textiles.
