Stricter FCRA Compliance Leaves Only 27.7% of Registered NGOs with Active Licences
New Delhi, July 9 -- Only 14,455 organisations, or 27.7 percent of all entities registered under the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act (FCRA), 2010, currently hold active licences to receive foreign funding, according to data from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).
Less Than One-Third of FCRA Registrations Remain Active
Since the MHA began maintaining records of valid FCRA registrations in 2012, a total of 52,159 NGOs and associations have been granted licences.
Of these, registrations of 22,498 organisations have been cancelled, while another 15,206 licences have been deemed expired after the organisations either failed to renew their registration or did not comply with revised regulatory requirements.
