New Delhi, Aug. 20 -- Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) has welcomed the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Amendment Act, 2026, saying the reform will provide greater certainty in the mineral sector and support the development of its captive iron ore and coal mines.

The company said the amendment, notified on August 17, brings greater clarity and uniformity in mineral taxation and levies while addressing pending retrospective levies.

SAIL said the more predictable fiscal regime is expected to improve the viability of its mining operations, support investment and mine development, and strengthen long-term raw material security.
