Mumbai, Sept. 17 -- Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Ltd (MDL) will invest around Rs 27,000 crore to develop a greenfield shipbuilding cluster at Dighi in Maharashtra's Raigad district, with the project expected to create around 90,000 jobs and significantly expand India's shipbuilding capacity.

MDL has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with National Shipbuilding and Heavy Industries Park Maharashtra Ltd (NSHIPML) to develop the facility, with an annual shipbuilding capacity target of at least 2 million gross tonnes.
