New Delhi, April 27 -- The Supreme Court has observed that legal heirs of a landlord can amend pleadings in an eviction suit to include additional grounds of bona fide requirement after the landlords death, provided such changes do not alter the original basis of the case.

A Bench comprising Justices J.K. Maheshwari and Atul S. Chandurkar was hearing an appeal by the landlords legal heirs challenging a decision of the Bombay High Court.

The original eviction suit was filed on the ground of bona fide requirement of the landlord and his family. However, the trial court dismissed the suit, citing lack of clarity on the intended use of the premises.
