Indian Railways Approves Rs 270 Crore Kavach Project on East Coast Railway
New Delhi, June 22 -- Indian Railways has approved the deployment of the Kavach automatic train protection system on 631 route kilometres of the East Coast Railway network at an estimated cost of Rs 270 crore.
The project will cover six railway sections namely Baghuapal-Budhapank, Haridaspur-Paradeep, Khurda Road-Balangir, Naupada-Gunupur, Lanjigarh Road-Junagarh and Bobbili-Salur.
The approved work is part of Indian Railways' ongoing programme to expand Kavach, the indigenous Automatic Train Protection (ATP) system, across the national rail network using an LTE-based communication backbone.
