New Delhi, Sept. 11 -- Union Finance and Corporate Affairs Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Friday met First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov in New Delhi to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral economic cooperation.

The meeting, held on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit, focused on measures to deepen economic engagement, including advancing negotiations on a Bilateral Investment Treaty (BIT), ANI reported.

"It was agreed to advance negotiations on a Bilateral Investment Treaty (BIT), with a view to establishing a mutually beneficial framework for enhancing investment flows and economic engagement," the Finance Ministry said in a post on X.
