New Delhi, May 23 -- The government has launched a coordinated inter-ministerial response to address a growing cargo congestion crisis at Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA), triggered by a shortage of trailer drivers at Container Freight Stations (CFSs) that has delayed the evacuation of approximately 25,000 import containers.

Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal and Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW) Sarbananda Sonowal convened a high-level meeting with representatives of the All India Liquid Bulk Importers and Exporters Association to assess the situation and chart immediate and long-term measures to restore normalcy in cargo movement, according to a government press release.
