New Delhi, April 13 -- India has stepped up the supply of smaller LPG cylinders and accelerated piped natural gas (PNG) connections to manage fuel availability amid disruptions linked to the West Asia conflict.
According to an official statement, over 13 lakh 5-kg LPG cylinders have been sold since March 23, with daily sales crossing 1 lakh units, as authorities seek to improve access for migrant workers and low-income households, PTI reported.
Shift Towards Smaller Cylinders and PNG
The government has increased the availability of market-priced 5-kg LPG cylinders to offset shortages for consumers without subsidised connections. Daily sales have risen sharply from about 77,000 units in February to over 1 lakh in recent weeks.
