New Delhi, May 6 -- The Union Government has approved fresh procurement measures aimed at ensuring remunerative prices for farmers and preventing distress sales, with a combined Minimum Support Price (MSP) support exceeding Rs 4,886 crore.
Under the decision, the government has sanctioned procurement of 9,023 metric tonnes of sunflower in Karnataka for the Rabi 2026 season under the Price Support Scheme (PSS).
The approval, valued at over Rs 69.66 crore, is expected to help farmers secure assured prices amid volatile market conditions and reduce the likelihood of distress sales.
In a separate move, the Centre has increased the procurement ceiling for gram in Maharashtra to 8.19 lakh metric tonnes for the Rabi 2025 26 season. The revis...
