New Delhi, July 27 -- The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved the development of a 117.7-km, 4/6-lane access-controlled greenfield highway between Kanpur and Kabrai at an estimated cost of Rs 7,145 crore. The project will be implemented by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) under the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.

The project forms part of the Bhopal-Kanpur Economic Corridor and will connect the Kabrai mining belt with industrial and urban centres, including Kanpur and Bhopal. It is expected to improve the movement of minerals, manufactured goods and agricultural produce across the region.
