Afghanistan, March 6 -- Mehr News Agency reported that Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said on Thursday it had struck a U.S. oil tanker in the northern Persian Gulf with a missile.
The reported strike came a day after a U.S. submarine torpedoed and sank the Iranian frigate IRIS Dena in the Indian Ocean, escalating tensions between Iran and the United States.
According to Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, the American tanker was hit by a missile in the northern Persian Gulf and was left ablaze.
There has been no immediate confirmation from U.S. officials regarding the reported strike on the tanker.
