Afghanistan, June 28 -- The death toll from Venezuela's devastating earthquakes has risen to more than 1,400, while over 55,000 people remain missing, authorities said, as international rescue teams expanded search operations in some of the country's hardest-hit coastal areas.
According to Reuters on Saturday, more than 1,600 foreign rescue workers have arrived in Venezuela, joining local emergency crews searching for survivors in devastated areas, including the capital, Caracas, and the coastal state of La Guaira. Families and volunteers have continued digging through collapsed buildings, many complaining about shortages of heavy rescue equipment and limited official assistance.
