Afghanistan, May 26 -- Uzbekistan has announced that, on the occasion of Eid al-Adha and in support of families affected by floods, it has sent around 200 tons of humanitarian aid to Afghanistan.

According to a statement on Monday that the assistance was handed over to local officials in Balkh and included 10 types of food supplies, among them 96 tons of flour, 22 tons of rice, 10,000 cans of halal beef, 15,000 liters of sunflower oil, 22 tons of pasta, 41,220 packets of assorted biscuits, 3 tons of banana-flavored biscuits, 22 tons of sugar and 22 tons of chickpeas.

The assistance comes as Afghanistan continues to face severe poverty, food shortages and growing humanitarian needs affecting millions of people across the country.
