Afghanistan, July 1 -- The United States is seeking a nuclear agreement with Iran that includes permanent commitments and strict international inspections to ensure Tehran's nuclear program is fully dismantled, U.S. Vice President JD Vance said.
Vance said Washington wants any future agreement to be based on permanent monitoring and rigorous verification, adding that the objective is to ensure Iran's nuclear program is completely halted and dismantled inside the country.
His comments came as indirect diplomacy between Washington and Tehran continued. U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner traveled to Doha for talks with Qatari mediators aimed at discussing implementation of the temporary understanding reached in June.
