Afghanistan, May 17 -- The administration of Donald Trump has allowed a sanctions waiver permitting some countries to continue purchasing Russian seaborne oil to expire, according to reports on Sunday.
Al Jazeera reported that the United States did not renew the temporary exemption after the latest extension expired, ending a measure that had allowed countries including India to continue limited purchases of Russian oil shipments.
US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent had previously indicated that the general license would not be extended beyond its current deadline.
