Afghanistan, July 26 -- The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) has warned that human trafficking for forced criminal activity, including online scams, is becoming an increasingly widespread form of exploitation, with victims often deceived, confined and coerced into committing crimes for organised criminal networks.
UNODC said traffickers frequently recruit people with false promises of legitimate jobs, high salaries and better opportunities abroad before transporting them to scam compounds or other criminal operations. Once there, victims may have their passports confiscated, their movements restricted and their communications monitored, making it difficult for them to escape or seek help.
