Afghanistan, June 17 -- UNICEF has warned that its humanitarian response in Afghanistan faces a funding shortfall of more than $542 million, threatening assistance for millions of people amid one of the world's largest humanitarian crises.
The agency said it requires $949 million for its 2026 operations in Afghanistan but has received only 43% of the requested funding so far. UNICEF stressed that continued international support is essential to prevent further deterioration of living conditions across the country.
