Afghanistan, June 29 -- UNICEF says about 680,000 children in Venezuela require urgent humanitarian assistance following the recent powerful earthquakes, warning that damaged hospitals, disrupted water supplies and destroyed schools have left children increasingly vulnerable.

A UNICEF representative said hospitals are operating beyond capacity, thousands of children lack reliable access to safe drinking water and hundreds of schools have been damaged, disrupting education while some surviving school buildings are being used as emergency shelters for displaced families.
