Afghanistan, June 2 -- UN Women has warned that around 50,000 women and girls in conflict-affected areas of Afghanistan, particularly in the eastern provinces, face an increasing risk of gender-based violence while access to healthcare and other essential services continues to deteriorate.

In a new report, the agency said women displaced by recent border clashes and natural disasters are facing severe challenges, including food insecurity, limited healthcare and psychological trauma.

UN Women said pregnant women are among the most vulnerable, as displacement and insecurity have compounded existing shortages of medical care and humanitarian assistance.
