Afghanistan, Sept. 8 -- The United Nations has called for urgent global safeguards to regulate rapidly advancing artificial intelligence, warning that increasingly powerful AI systems could pose serious risks to human rights, privacy and public safety without stronger international oversight and accountability.
Speaking at the UN Human Rights Council on Monday, September 7, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Turk said the unprecedented pace of AI development requires governments and technology companies to place safety, transparency and accountability at the center of the technology's future.
