Afghanistan, June 20 -- United Nations Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed has called for accountability for conflict-related sexual violence, stressing that such acts constitute war crimes and crimes against humanity under international law.
Marking the International Day for the Elimination of Sexual Violence in Conflict, Mohammed said survivors, their families, and affected communities often continue to suffer long after armed conflicts end. She noted that the end of hostilities does not mean the end of trauma, but rather the beginning of a long process of recovery and healing.
