Afghanistan, Aug. 19 -- United Nations spokesperson Stephane Dujarric described Israeli airstrikes on the Abu al-Duhur airbase in Syria's Idlib province as another "very concerning" violation of Syria's territorial integrity and airspace, calling for an end to military attacks on the country.

Dujarric made the remarks during a press briefing on Wednesday, according to Al Jazeera, saying the United Nations opposed continued airstrikes in Syria.

"These airstrikes need to stop, and we stand against them," Dujarric said, according to the report.

The strikes took place early Tuesday at Abu al-Duhur military airbase, which has gained renewed attention amid changes in Syria's security landscape and growing regional military activity.
