Afghanistan, Aug. 23 -- An Afghan-born maths teacher in Britain has been allowed to remain in the profession after an employment tribunal found that his communication with a teenage pupil had gone well beyond what was appropriate for a teacher.
The Daily Mail reported on August 22 that Jamil Wali exchanged 204 emails with the pupil between January and March 2024, including messages sent late at night. The tribunal heard that Wali told the girl he would find her a "perfect boyfriend" and used highly familiar language, including telling her, "I am always here" and "I got your back."
Wali, who came to Britain as a refugee at the age of seven, previously attended King's Leadership Academy in Liverpool before returning to the school as a maths...
