Afghanistan, July 8 -- The United States revoked a license allowing certain Iran-related oil transactions, tightening sanctions as reported attacks near the Strait of Hormuz heightened tensions.
The U.S. Treasury Department has revoked a license that previously authorized certain transactions involving the production, sale and transfer of Iranian oil and petroleum products, tightening sanctions on Tehran as security concerns mount around the Strait of Hormuz.
The Treasury said companies have 10 days to wind down existing transactions and terminate contracts covered by the authorization. It said no new transactions may be conducted under the revoked license after the wind-down period expires.
