Afghanistan, May 24 -- Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan announced a three-day ceasefire during Eid al-Adha, while warning that any military action by Pakistani forces would receive a response.

In a statement released Saturday, TTP leader Noor Wali Mehsud said the ceasefire would remain in effect during the 10th, 11th and 12th days of Dhul-Hijjah, coinciding with Eid celebrations.

The announcement comes as Pakistan faces a sharp increase in militant attacks, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, where bombings, ambushes and assaults on security forces have intensified in recent months.
