Afghanistan, July 28 -- U.S. President Donald Trump said negotiations with Iran are continuing despite a pause in American military strikes, expressing optimism about the prospects for diplomacy while warning that military action could resume if talks fail.
Speaking on Tuesday, Trump said he hoped the latest diplomatic efforts would produce a breakthrough but stressed that Washington remained prepared to resume military operations if negotiations did not succeed.
"I have a lot of hope that we'll make progress," Trump said. "If we reach an agreement, that would be great. But if we don't, we'll go back to doing what we were doing two days ago."
