Afghanistan, March 19 -- Saudi Arabia's Foreign Ministry has welcomed the temporary ceasefire between the Taliban and Pakistan announced for Eid al-Fitr, praising both sides for responding positively to calls from Riyadh, Qatar and Turkey.
In a statement, the ministry said it appreciated the two sides' acceptance of mediation efforts and stressed that dialogue and peaceful solutions remain the best path for resolving outstanding differences.
The ministry added that Saudi Arabia will continue its diplomatic efforts, in coordination with other countries, to support peace, security and stability in the region.
