Afghanistan, April 7 -- Saudi Arabia said on Tuesday it intercepted and destroyed seven ballistic missiles launched toward its Eastern Region, with debris falling near energy facilities in the kingdom's oil-producing heartland.
The Saudi defence ministry said an assessment was under way to determine the extent of any damage, but it did not immediately identify who launched the missiles.
The interception marked the latest sign that the widening Iran-related conflict is increasingly spilling into Gulf states, especially those hosting strategic energy assets and U.S. military-linked infrastructure.
