Afghanistan, June 18 -- Russian officials said Ukrainian drones targeted Moscow overnight, with several reaching a major oil refinery despite air defenses reportedly intercepting dozens of aircraft.

Russian authorities say Ukrainian drones struck a major oil refinery in Moscow early Thursday, marking one of the latest long-range attacks deep inside Russian territory as the war between the two countries continues.

Sergei Sobyanin, the mayor of Moscow, said air defense units intercepted multiple drones approaching the Russian capital, while emergency services were deployed to locations where debris fell. Russia's Defense Ministry later claimed that air defense systems shot down 42 drones heading toward Moscow.
