Afghanistan, May 16 -- Russian authorities said the total number of casualties from a Ukrainian drone attack on the city of Ryazan has risen to 28, following one of the largest drone strikes reported in recent months.

Officials said on the night of May 15, Ukrainian forces launched around 99 drones targeting the Ryazan region, in an escalation of cross-border attacks amid the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine.

Local health chief Alexander Pshenikov said seven people are currently receiving treatment in hospitals, including four children, while at least four people have been confirmed dead and the toll could rise further.
