Afghanistan, June 25 -- U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has assured Gulf allies that Washington will take their security interests into account during negotiations with Iran, while reaffirming U.S. opposition to any fees on shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.

Speaking during a visit to Kuwait on Wednesday, Rubio said the United States remains in close coordination with its Gulf partners and will keep them informed about developments in ongoing talks with Tehran. He stressed that Washington would not pursue any arrangement that weakens the security of its regional allies.
