Afghanistan, Sept. 21 -- Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf said on Sunday that the Strait of Hormuz will not reopen until the United States fulfills its commitments and recognizes what Tehran describes as Iran's legitimate rights, linking one of the world's most critical oil shipping routes to the future of U.S.-Iran negotiations.
Speaking during a session of Iran's parliament on September 20, Qalibaf said Tehran has conveyed its conditions and messages to Washington through intermediaries. He added that there is no basis for returning to the previous negotiation process or reopening the Strait of Hormuz until Iran's demands are addressed.
