Afghanistan, April 10 -- Vladimir Putin has ordered a temporary Easter ceasefire in the war with Ukraine, directing Russian forces to halt military operations for one day as part of a holiday truce. According to the Kremlin, the pause will run from 1600 local time on April 11 until the end of April 12, coinciding with Orthodox Easter celebrations observed in both countries.
The Kremlin said the ceasefire was declared on humanitarian and religious grounds, marking one of the rare pauses in a conflict that has largely continued uninterrupted despite repeated diplomatic efforts. Russian authorities, however, warned that troops remain ready to respond if Ukrainian forces carry out what Moscow described as "provocations."
