Afghanistan, April 13 -- CBS News reported that a senior official in Pakistan said Islamabad has intensified diplomatic efforts to bring Iran and the United States back to the negotiating table.

According to the report published on Monday, Pakistani officials remain cautiously optimistic about continued engagement between Tehran and Washington despite limited progress in the first round of direct talks.

The senior official said Pakistan is in direct contact with both sides and has urged them to resume negotiations as soon as possible to prevent the collapse of the fragile ceasefire set to expire on April 22.
