Pakistan Says 4,700 Citizens Killed in Militant Attacks Linked to Afghanistan

Afghanistan, Sept. 12 -- Pakistan told the United Nations Security Council that more than 4,700 Pakistani citizens have been killed in terrorist attacks over the past three years that it says originated from militant groups operating from Afghanistan territory, renewing accusations against the Taliban administration over cross-border militancy.

Speaking during a Security Council session marking the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks, Pakistan's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, said militant groups including Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) and the BLA's Majeed Brigade continue to operate from safe havens inside Afghanistan.
