Afghanistan, April 17 -- The Taliban said a health centre in eastern Afghanistan was heavily damaged after rocket fire from Pakistan, as cross-border tensions escalate.

State-run media reported that at least 10 rockets struck the facility in Kunar province, destroying key sections including the operating room, laboratory and maternity ward, forcing the centre to shut down.

Officials at the facility said medical equipment was destroyed and services suspended, leaving local residents without access to nearby healthcare and forcing them to travel long distances for treatment.

Pakistan has not immediately commented on the latest claim, but has previously said its operations target militant infrastructure and are conducted with precision.
