Afghanistan, June 27 -- Pakistan's military said on Friday its security forces killed eight militants during two intelligence-based operations in the southwestern province of Balochistan, as authorities continue a nationwide campaign against insurgent groups.
In a statement, the military's media wing said the operations were carried out over the past two days in the districts of Kharan and Mastung based on intelligence reports about militant activity.
According to the statement, the first operation took place on June 25 in Kharan, where security forces engaged armed militants, killing three and wounding several others. The military described the group as an India-backed proxy organization, an allegation New Delhi has repeatedly denied.
