Afghanistan, Sept. 21 -- Pakistani military aircraft carried out overnight airstrikes in Afghanistan's eastern provinces of Kunar and Paktika early Monday, killing at least three civilians and injuring several others, according to officials, in the latest escalation of cross-border tensions between the two neighboring countries.
Taliban officials said Pakistani fighter jets struck residential areas in Nurgal district of Kunar Province at about 2:30 a.m., targeting a house in Patan village. Authorities said three civilians were killed and several others were wounded in the strike.
