Afghanistan, May 20 -- Global oil prices fell Wednesday after Donald Trump said the conflict with Iran could end "very quickly," easing fears of wider disruption in Middle East energy supplies.

Brent crude dropped to about $109.71 per barrel in early European trading, nearly two dollars lower than the previous session, as investors reacted to Trump's remarks about possible progress toward ending the confrontation with Tehran.

Gold prices also declined while stock markets in Asia and Europe moved higher, reflecting reduced concerns over escalating regional tensions and potential disruptions to global trade routes.
