Afghanistan, July 10 -- Morocco's defeat to France in the FIFA World Cup quarterfinals ended Africa's campaign at the 2026 tournament, leaving defending champions Argentina as the only non-European nation still in contention for the title.

Morocco, the last African team remaining in the competition, was eliminated after losing to France in the quarterfinals, bringing to a close another historic World Cup campaign for the Atlas Lions.

The Moroccan side was the only African team to win a knockout-stage match in regulation or extra time, defeating co-host Canada in the Round of 16.
