Afghanistan, June 30 -- Morocco defeated Netherlands 3-2 on penalties after a 1-1 draw to reach the last 16 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, setting up a knockout clash with Canada.

The Netherlands appeared on course for victory after Cody Gakpo scored in the 72nd minute, but Morocco forced extra time when Issa Diop headed in a dramatic stoppage-time equaliser.
