Afghanistan, May 13 -- Kyrgyz authorities have charged eight people, including former national security chief Kamchybek Tashiev, with plotting a coup and attempting to seize power, deepening political tensions in the Central Asian country.

Tashiev, once considered one of the most powerful figures in Kyrgyzstan and a close ally of President Sadyr Japarov, was removed from office in January after years of jointly dominating the country's political leadership following the 2020 protests that brought them to power.
