Afghanistan, March 8 -- Former Afghanistan president Hamid Karzai praised the historical role of women in Afghanistan's development and called for restoring their rights in a message marking International Women's Day.
Writing on the social media platform X on Sunday, Karzai said Afghan women have long worked alongside men in shaping the country's progress and that their contributions remain vital.
He said meeting the basic needs of society and achieving long-term national development would be impossible without the active participation of women across education, economic and social sectors.
