Afghanistan, July 1 -- The Taliban's Ministry of Defense said its forces had carried out airstrikes against what it described as joint bases of ISIS and "groups of evil and corruption" in Pakistan's provinces of Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. In a statement issued late Tuesday, the ministry said one of the strikes targeted the Saranan area in Balochistan but provided no details on casualties or damage.

The announcement comes days after relations between Afghanistan and Pakistan sharply deteriorated following Pakistani airstrikes in Afghanistan's eastern provinces of Paktia, Paktika and Kunar.
