Afghanistan, Aug. 17 -- Jumakhan Fateh, a local commander in Badakhshan's Darwaz region, has surrendered to ministery of defense forces after about a week of clashes between his fighters and Taliban forces, according to a senior official.
The senior Taliban official, who spoke to the BBC on condition of anonymity, said Fateh surrendered unconditionally and was flown by helicopter to Faizabad, the provincial capital. A source close to Fateh also confirmed his surrender.
